Shakespeare uses Brutus’ speech at Ceasers furenal to show the themes of love and hate
‘As Ceaser loved me, I wept for him… But as he was ambitious, I slew him’
In this scene we can see that Brutus loves
Love and hate are very similar emotions with very contrasting actions as a result. They are both the extreme highs of passion but unlike a pendulum in which these emotions are on completely different ends, these emotions are next to each other. Many a time love is hidden in hate and vice versa. A character may kill a character, which is a hateful action, out of love for them and respect of the character demands (Brutus death)
