Why did the author of the chrysalids show the argument between david’s mother/father and david’s auntie through david’s eyes?

I think the author shows the argument between david’s mother/father and david’s auntie through david’s eyes so that we could understand that what david hears we hear as well so we would know the same amount as david. The author may have also done this to show that, even though hard for a child to understnd, parents are not heros and are only humans and make human mistakes. This mistake being that the mather and father ‘might’ have killed David’s auntie.
