Caeser Act 3 Scene 1

Starts with everyone gathering in the Capitol and Artemidous attempting to speak to and warn Caeser ‘Delay not, Caeser, read it instantly (the letter written in the previous act to Ceaser about the forthcoming events)’

Caeser is then all alone with the conspiracy and casca delivers the first blow, many more are dealt before Brutus delivers the finally blow.

The conspiracy relish in their actions (Cassius) but my fear it is not for the greater good of Rome to tell the people; Brutus who is unsure if what he did was right as he says ‘how many times shall Caeser bleed in sport’ suggesting it’s for entertainment and a selfish act, not for a good cause.

  1. Blert,

Did you read Harry Spencer’s interpretation of Brutus’ line? How might this change your reading of this scene?

Do you believe that the killing of Caesar changes these characters? How is this shown/developed throughout the rest of the play?
